Orphans & Blind Dates

Items

We all have them. Collectibles that are orphaned by not having their matching lid or spoon or saucer etc. They are annoying but we can’t bring ourselves to throw them out. Bringing items together to make a much more valuable whole is called a ‘marriage’ in the antiques trade — and this section of our store has some items in need of a new home. The idea for the Orphan and Blind Dates (OBD) section of our online store came from a quick stock take of our Carlton Ware recently gathered in the UK.  A quick check of the idea with senior Hariet’s gal pals, the Wazzles, confirmed that we should run with this idea.  Among the 50 or so items, we had mismatched lids and pots, a few with chips and a few needing repair. So here is how this part of the store works. If you are making a purchase from one of our other sections in the store (Glass, Porcelain etc) then you can purchase one item from the OBD for the listed price, usually less then $20 a piece and we will wrap it with your other purchase (i.e., postage is free). The items do not need to be ‘related’ but the offer is only good for your current order – no rain cheques. If you buy more than 1 item you can choose another OBD per purchase.  If you just want to buy the OBD – get in contact with us and we will work out the postage for you.
